REFRIGERATOR BACKUP GUIDE

Will it keep your fridge cold when the power goes out?

A practical look at the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic: estimated runtime, compressor startup checks, real limitations, and when a larger power station may make more sense.

i

Before you buy: Actual runtime depends on your refrigerator's average energy use and startup requirements. The figures on this page are estimates, not lab test results.

THE SHORT ANSWER

A possible fit for short outages—not a universal solution.

The DELTA 3 Classic has a published 1,024Wh battery and 1,800W rated AC output. It may work for a compatible household refrigerator, but those headline specs do not guarantee compressor startup or a fixed number of hours.

Specifications should be confirmed on the current US product page before purchase. The 870Wh figure used in the calculator below is a modeling assumption—not an official usable-energy rating.

01 / ESTIMATE YOUR NEEDS

How long could it run your refrigerator?

Start with usable AC energy, then divide it by the total average load. A refrigerator cycles on and off, so average energy consumption is more useful than a single instant-watt reading.

ESTIMATION FORMULARuntime (hours) = Usable AC energy (Wh) ÷ Total average load (W)

For a better estimate, use a suitable energy meter where compatible, or check the refrigerator's energy documentation. Include other connected devices and inverter overhead if it is not already included in your measured load.

02 / BEFORE YOU BUY

Can your refrigerator start on it?

Startup compatibility is different from runtime. A compressor can briefly demand much more power when starting than it uses while running.

01

Confirm voltage

Check that your refrigerator is designed for the available 120V AC supply and that the plug and circuit requirements are compatible.

02

Look up startup requirements

Check the appliance manual or rating plate for running requirements and locked-rotor amperage (LRA), if provided. LRA × voltage estimates apparent power in VA—not exact startup watts.

03

Account for other appliances

Other devices add to the running load. Consider whether a kettle, microwave, or other high-power appliance could be used at the same time.

04

Ask if you are unsure

If startup requirements are unclear, confirm compatibility with the refrigerator or power-station manufacturer before relying on the unit in an outage.

!
Food safety matters more than the battery estimate.

USDA guidance says a closed refrigerator generally keeps food safely cold for up to about four hours without power. Keep the door closed and use an appliance thermometer. See the USDA food-safety guidance ↗.

03 / THE TRADE-OFFS

What works—and what doesn't

A useful backup setup starts with your needs, not the product's headline numbers.

✓

Potential advantages

  • Defined capacity: 1,024Wh gives you a starting point for planning short-term backup.
  • Rated AC output: 1,800W is useful for screening appliance requirements, provided startup demand is also checked.
  • Solar input: Up to 500W input may help recharge in suitable conditions.
  • LFP battery chemistry: One factor to weigh alongside capacity, warranty, price, and charging options.
!

Important limitations

  • Finite runtime: Higher loads and conversion losses reduce available hours.
  • No expansion batteries: The DELTA 3 Classic is a standalone-capacity system.
  • Startup isn't guaranteed: Specs alone cannot confirm every compressor will start.
  • Solar varies: Weather, shade, and panel positioning affect recharge energy.
04 / COMPARE YOUR OPTIONS

EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic vs. Anker SOLIX C1000

The right choice depends on appliance compatibility, expected runtime, charging setup, warranty, and total system cost—not one specification alone.

CONSIDER ECOFLOW IF

The standalone capacity matches your expected outage, the verified output fits your appliance, and you do not need external battery expansion.

COMPARE ANKER IF

You want to compare base capacity, solar input, current pricing, accessories, warranty, and any expansion options on the exact model available to you.

05 / CHECK THE DETAILS

Does it fit your backup plan?

Check the latest US specifications, current price, availability, warranty terms, and supported accessories before deciding.

06 / COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Can the DELTA 3 Classic run a refrigerator overnight?

It may, depending on the refrigerator's average energy consumption, usable AC energy, operating conditions, and startup compatibility. Estimate your own load rather than assuming every refrigerator will run overnight.

Can it power a refrigerator for 24 hours?

That cannot be guaranteed from the battery rating alone. A 24-hour estimate requires sufficiently low average consumption, enough usable energy, or recharging during the period.

Will it start my refrigerator compressor?

There is no universal guarantee. Check startup requirements and compare them with the power station's output limits. Contact the manufacturers if requirements are unclear.

Can I recharge it with solar panels?

The unit supports up to 500W of solar input. Actual energy production and charging time depend on sunlight, panel setup, temperature, and compatible equipment.

Can I add an expansion battery later?

No. The DELTA 3 Classic does not support external expansion batteries. If expandable storage matters, compare a model that explicitly supports compatible expansion batteries.

Does a 10ms EPS transfer time guarantee my refrigerator won't shut off?

No. Transfer time is a published specification, not a universal compatibility guarantee. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and verify the intended setup before relying on it.
